Drop down and get your Uncle on, Ike.

Jake and Reed visited this weekend from Oakland and Portland, and it was nothing short of legendary: an absolutely wonderful, special and too-short reminder of how blessed we are by our families. For real.

The visit was a nice blend of down-home chilling and eating, with some healthy celebrating and revelry thrown in for good measure (more on that
soon). Reed battled with some type of fluish affliction all weekend (not surprising at all, this ain't pig flu), which Jake theorized was a physical reaction to being upstaged as the Swier family baby boy.

Ike did amazingly well and continues to grow increasingly curious, open and active. He is displaying new faces daily, including the occasional smile! It was deeply joyful to have Reed and Jake here. I thought a lot about all the incredible people in our/Ike's life and about the way he is already catalyzing such changes in us, calling us to learn new things and become new people. This truly is a time of transformation.

Jake and Reed, we miss you already and are looking forward to Michigan in August.

Uncle Jake, displayin' the skills

Dropping science: Reed imparted his highly-touted couch surfing skills

Jake and Ike had some great "quiet alert" catching up time

Our walk in the park was beautiful

We also witnessed exciting developments in the vending scene (tacos y otra comida Mexicana) at the Parade Grounds, right around the corner from our apartment. The number of food vendors has expanded recently, and we are ECSTATIC. ¡Que vivan las vendadoras ambulantes!
