During the "witching hour" tonight (the time between 6pm & bedtime when Ike is generally cranky and inconsolable) we all took turns bouncing him around. He likes movement generally, and this tended (at least tonight) to help stem the tide.
First up to bat was Grandma Nance, who did some fantastic aerobic baby-soothing.
Auntie Heather Z, visiting in the midst of her travels (one of Abby's oldest buds) was next, and as you can see, did a stupendous job on the exercise ball.
Grandad took it to the next level, however, and turned the party out. In this first clip he unleashes his patented finger dance. In the second he cranks it up a notch.
After this we slowed it down with Marvin Gaye's "Ecology."
And then he woke up and started crying more until he got to nurse. At the end of the day, it's Abigail who is the last line of defense.
Yesterday was Ike's 2nd visit with Dr. Ajl. We got chewed out for being 5 min late, but kinda chalked that up to the doc being a little overworked and stressed out about swine flu. The most EXCITING news we got is that - since the first visit only 4 days ago - Ike gained 8 OUNCES. We are very proud of our little heavyweight for putting in so much time at the office. In other news, the last of the umbilical cord crust fell off on Monday and the doc said Ike was cleared for water recreation. So of course we jumped in the bath as soon as we got home!
Today Ike and his friend Hannah Rosa Paul Dueker got to meet each other outside of the wombs for the first time. They had spent lots of in utero time together during childbirth and pre-natal yoga classes, and they also shared the same midwife, the fantastic Miriam Swartzchild. We are so excited to be friends with Eli, Ilana and Hannah, and thankful for Miriam in our lives.
